ROYGBIV

My senior thesis project, which explores the significance of color in the human experience. This project encapsulates months of research on the sometimes similar, sometimes conflicted meanings of color, be they cultural, psychological, or personal. The book itself serves as a visual journey through the spectrum, comprising a variety of texts and images including generalized descriptions of color's associations across cultures, color-based idioms from around the world, and responses from interviews I conducted with everyday people about their own personal associations with certain colors (these responses are featured in the running text along the bottom of the book). I'm fascinated by how differing viewpoints based on identity, background, culture, etc. shape our understanding, or lack thereof, of a singular “truth,” and how we ascribe meaning to the mundane.

This project was featured on the Parsons Communication Design BFA Instagram! Check it out here.
