This Is Your Brain On Reality TV | Digital Journalism Feature
This was my senior capstone project for my Journalism+Design degree. Over the course of a semester, I wrote, reported, and designed a long-form feature piece inspired by my experience in the reality TV industry during my internship with Bravo. The story analyzes the contemporary trend of ‘self-care’ through the lens of reality tv and guilty pleasure. Through research and interviews with fans, psychologists, media studies professors, and industry experts, I investigated the question of whether zoning out and engaging with a guilty pleasure like reality tv constitutes a healthy form of mental wellness. I designed a web version of the story to show how I would ideally present it in an online format.
